Though this art form started as a childhood activity, it gradually grew into a deeper artistic commitment, especially as she entered the two-year Arangetram training track under the guidance of Guru Sukanya.  Tara is a rising junior at Lawrence High School and enjoys other activities such as public speaking, writing and playing the piano. The performance follows the traditional Margam sequence, moving from pure rhythmic movement (Nritta) to expressive storytelling (Abhinaya). Its centerpiece, the Varnam, highlights mastery through complex footwork and nuanced facial expression. More than a recital, Arangetram is a spiritual rite of passage, honoring dedication, tradition, and growth. It stands as a vibrant celebration of South Indian cultural heritage and the dancer’s journey from student to performer.
